Lakeshore Administration Building Renovation
The historic Lakeshore Administration Building was renovated and restored for use as supplemental office space for the City of Knoxville Parks and Recreation Department. Interior improvements include the restoration of the ceilings to their original height and doors with glass and transoms to their original height and layout. Exterior improvements include the front porch and entry door being redesigned to match the original design of the building and the existing windows being individually restored and reinstalled.
Sustainable features include energy efficient light fixtures with daylight and vacancy sensors, water efficient plumbing fixtures and the use of low-VOC paints and stains on the interior.
The Lakeshore Administration Building, originally built in 1884, is the last remaining structure of the Lakeshore Mental Health Institute built on top of the hill in the bend of the Tennessee River.
