Safety

02_Safety

Throughout our history, Johnson & Galyon has maintained a successful and comprehensive safety program. Our program embodies key elements that contribute to the collective success of our team’s efforts, including:

EMR (Experience Modification Rate)

2022: 0.74         2021: 0.67         2020: 0.67

Training

Our training program includes:

  • OSHA Construction Safety Courses – includes OSHA 30hour training for superintendents and OSHA 10hour training for foreman.
  • Hazardous Communication Training – teaches our personnel about materials used on site.
  • Tool Box Safety Meeting – weekly meetings regarding upcoming safety topics.

Premobilization Meetings

These meetings are held before our team or subcontractors mobilize on site. This planning session covers the site safety program.

Pre-Work Meetings

Pre-work meetings are held prior to each phase of work to review the safety standards. We eliminate needless safety issues while increasing productivity and performance in quality.

Inspections

Inspections play a major role in all aspects of safety performance:

  • Mock OSHA Inspections – conducted by our Safety Consultant and Operations Manager utilizing OSHA audit procedures, which identify issues.
  • Superintendent’s Weekly Safety Inspections – performed by field supervisory staff to identify any non-compliance issues for corrective action.
  • Company Safety Inspections – conducted monthly in which a thorough safety inspection is performed.

Tennessee Drug-Free Workplace

Johnson & Galyon implemented a post-accident drug test policy in 1987. We have been a certified participant in the Tennessee Drug-Free Workplace program since 1998. This program keeps drug users off our payroll and conveys a strong commitment to safety.
