St. George Greek Orthodox Church

The historic church, originally constructed in 1968, faced an extensive restoration after it was severely damaged and its interior ruined in an early morning fire in 2015. The multi-phased project involved rebuilding the iconic structure to as close to the pre-fire architectural details as possible, while meeting current codes. Much of the detailing involved trades and materials that are seldom used in construction today such as ornate marble work, plaster, and terrazzo. Johnson & Galyon was careful to use appropriate measures to respect the integrity of the building’s details, such as the stained-glass windows and the custom-made Italian glass mosaics.
