University of Tennessee Ayres Hall
Built in the 1920’s, this signature building on the University of Tennessee campus had fallen into disrepair and was closed to the public in 2009. This complete renovation required Johnson & Galyon to replace all the major systems including utility infrastructure, mechanical and electrical systems, and non-code-compliant structures. As a LEED Silver Certified Restoration and Renovation Project, new technology systems and modern technology were installed while protecting and enhancing the building’s exterior and interior historic features. All these renovation activities were performed and managed while students and some vehicular traffic continuously moved around the building.
