Chief Executive Officer

Doug has four decades of experience in the construction industry and joined Johnson & Galyon in 2001. Throughout his career, he has been part of many notable projects, including the East Tennessee Children’s Hospital Surgery and NICU addition, the additions and renovations to Neyland Stadium, the Whittle Communications Corporate Building (now the Howard Baker Federal Courthouse), the Dover Downs Hotel & Convention Center, the renovations at Rockefeller Center in New York City, and the renovation and restoration of Ayres Hall, a landmark structure at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville.  

Since 1983, Doug has been a registered architect and a longtime member of the American Institute of Architects. He currently serves on the Graduate School of Medicine's Board of Visitors at the University of Tennessee.  

Doug is also an active member of the community, having served on boards and committees for several organizations, including the Emerald Youth Foundation, where he served as chairman of the board for 15 years, the 2013-2015 University of Tennessee Chancellor’s Associates, the University of Tennessee’s Graduate School of Medicine Board of Visitors and the College of Architecture's Board of Advisors.  

Before starting his career in construction, Doug was a student at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, where he graduated with honors in 1978 with a bachelor of science in architecture.  

Doug and his wife, Vicky, currently reside in Knoxville. They have raised three children: Justin, Kristin, and Ryan, and are now enjoying their first grandchild, Oliver.

Chief Financial Officer

Susan has been a valuable member of the Johnson & Galyon team since 1991. She currently serves as the chief financial officer and treasurer, where she is responsible for working with the company’s leadership team to ensure that all financial operations, human resources, and administrative services are functioning efficiently.  

Prior to joining Johnson & Galyon, Susan worked for several years in the audit divisions of two public accounting firms in Knoxville and ultimately became a Certified Public Accountant (CPA).  

Susan is a 2007 graduate of Leadership Knoxville and a member of the 2017 – 2020 University of Tennessee Chancellor’s Associates. She is a past member of the Knoxville Chamber Board of Directors, served on the Chamber's Finance Committee, and is a former board member and treasurer of the Metropolitan Drug Commission.   

Before launching her professional career, Susan was a student at the University of Tennessee, earning a bachelor of science degree in business administration in 1986 and graduating with the highest honors.

She and her husband, Michael, have two children, Ellen and Max.

Executive Vice President of Preconstruction

Craig entered the construction field in the early 1990s and joined Johnson & Galyon in 2010. He studied architecture at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, and received his degree from the College of Architecture and Design in 1998.

Craig’s construction expertise is a result of knowledge gained from providing both project management and preconstruction services for a wide range of clients over his 25-year career in the industry. His resume includes projects for the University of Tennessee, the Tennessee Board of Regents, Tennova, Covenant Health, the University of Tennessee Medical Center and East Tennessee Children’s Hospital, and numerous private entities. Some notable projects are the East Tennessee Children’s Hospital NICU and Surgery Expansion, the University of Tennessee Medical Center Heart Tower Expansion, and Fort Sanders Medical Center Emergency Room and ICU Expansion. These examples have a combined valuation in excess of 200 million dollars and are over 550,000 square feet in combined area.

Craig is Vice President of the Associated General Contractors of Tennessee and has been involved with this organization for over ten years. He has served on the AIA of East Tennessee board of directors in the past and currently serves on the Dean’s Advisory Council for the University of Tennessee College of Architecture and Design. He is also a member of the Sevier County Economic Development Council.

Aside from construction, Craig’s passion is his family and providing support to his children in all their endeavors. He and his wife, Ashlea, have two sons, Reid and Case.

Vice President - Director of Healthcare Construction

Chad’s interest in construction began in high school while working as a masonry laborer during summer break and continued throughout college as he worked various construction jobs. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering in May of 2002 from Tennessee Technological University, majoring in Industrial Technology and minoring in Business Administration.

Chad joined Johnson & Galyon in 2002 and has worked in various positions, including Project Engineer, Assistant Project Manager, Estimating Assistant, Project Manager, Senior Project Manager, Director of Healthcare Construction, and Vice President. Some of his notable projects include Baptist West Hospital (Turkey Creek Medical Center), where he worked as a Project Engineer and as a Project Manager on the University of Tennessee (UT) Ayres Hall Renovation, Walters State Community College Student Services Building, Knoxville Orthopaedic Clinic, UT Natalie L. Haslam Music Center, East Tennessee Children’s Hospital Surgery and NICU Addition, and the Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center Emergency Room and ICU Expansion. He enjoys all facets of construction, especially building customer relationships, and finds project delivery very rewarding.

Chad has previously served on the Gift in Kind Committee for the Boy Scouts of America and currently serves on the board of the Resource Valley Construction Training Council, which provides education and training to apprentices in the carpentry, electrical, and masonry trades.

Chad and his wife Emily have two sons, Colby and Evan.

Vice President - Director of Commercial Construction

Wes has worked in the construction industry for over 40 years, starting in road and bridge construction before entering the residential and commercial building fields. He has worked as an Estimator and Project Manager and spent 15 years in the Middle Tennessee market.

Wes has been part of many notable projects, including the Opryland Hotel and Convention Center expansion in Nashville, the LeConte Center at Pigeon Forge, Sacred Heart Cathedral and Brookview Plaza Office Complex in Knoxville, and the Carson-Newman University Nursing School in Jefferson City.

Wes is a 1979 graduate of the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. He is a Board Member and past Vice-President of the Construction Specifications Institute and a member of the Associated General Contractors of Tennessee and the United Methodist Men's Association. He also stays involved in his community by volunteering at Habitat for Humanity.

Outside work, Wes enjoys his grandchildren, golfing, UT sports, and fishing trips to Alaska.
